Welcome to Bulverde!

The Old Village of Bulverde is the site of a growing community of artists, handcrafters, antique and vintage merchants, and food and wine enthusiasts, conveniently located at the gateway to the Texas Hill Country on the 281 corridor. Unlike many other destinations, women artists and business owners make up the overwhelming majority of merchants in the Village, and they are committed to its growth and success in a way that preserves its history and unique community feel.

If you’re thinking about a day in the Texas Hill Country, make sure the Old Village one of your stops! Enjoy shopping in one of our growing number boutiques, sip a cold beer in our newly-opened beer garden, or enjoy a sandwich served on homemade bread and bursting with fresh, local flavor. We even have workshops in jewelry making, mixed media, painting, fused glass and precious metal clay if you want to make a day of it!

Community

Old Village of Bulverde

The newly opened Garden at Bags and Brews in the center of the Old Village was the outgrowth of an ad-hoc “social club” that developed around the relationships between merchants in the village. In addition to Bulverde’s annual Jubilee and Christmas Lighting events, it is now the site of a monthly Second Friday community event featuring live music, a farmer’s market, artisan goods, and local food, with all net alcohol proceeds serving a different charitable organization every month.

The Garden is also a growing event site, including pop-up dinners with local chefs and visiting winemakers and special events for a wide variety of organizations and clubs. In December 2015, the Old Village will welcome the ‘Sisters on the Fly’, a national women’s outdoor adventure organization, for a ‘Christmas in a Country Village’ International Holiday event. Travel and winery tours have begun booking luncheon and end-of-day events, with a variety of catering and make-and-take project add-ons available.
